Here is the first in a series of three portraits focusing on Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles from the best show ever made,
A friend from a ways back who works with runners is organizing a cross country event in downtown DC and asked me to do some concept work with a hero/ comic theme. We're working with one color, high contrast so I did a few rough mockups with that in mind.

A little while ago I teamed up with writer Matt Mogk to create a zombie christmas story called I Saw Mommy Biting Santa Claus! and it's in Barnes and Noble, Walmart, Books A Million stores and online through Amazon!
A book cover for Steven Carroll's All the Worlds of Earth and the roughs. I think we chose well but if I had time, would love to see the rough of the children in profile brought to completion.
I say first page but its a ROUGH first page. Either way at least it's out of my head and onto paper.
The first page complete with blue pencil and unfilled in blacks.
Threadless is having another competition I can't get out of my head. Science! I'm always looking to have excuses to draw Nikola Tesla and have been doing sketches (pictured below) for something like this for a while.
WAR OF THE CURRENTS!
I was looking over comicalliance.com's art of the week section and found the great work of Eric Canete. He does awesome character based illustration work and uses Copic markers to build value. I've used them in the past as a novelty item and was blown away to see what Mr. Canete could do with them. With that in mind, here's a quick sketch of Poseidan and his under sea muscles.
Here's the rough and final for the Threadless Thor challenge. Coincidentally through data mining for this illustration, I've found the blue sketch pencil technique, also the great comic work of James Harren.

And the final
Here's the first in a series of one hour MMA portrait paintings. Jon Jones is the current light heavy weight champion and has lots of great three quarter view photos to work from. Up next is Chuck Liddell?

First blog post! It's so easy to create a blog from any number of great formats floating around in the internet (Wordpress, Wix, etc), write a really great empowering first entry then... do nothing. A harmless habit until 6 months later you google yourself and find lots of awesome first blog posts. I'm hoping to break that cycle and use this as a less polished blog and rather a weekly dump for inspiration, current work etc in as much of a creative vomit as squarespace will allow.
